Rizites are the Cretans who used to live on the mountains. These were the ones who fought wars for Crete. “Rizitis Ntouraki” is a wine made from grapes that are cultivated on the mountains.
Vilana is a white Cretan variety found in the prefectures of Herakleion and Lassithi and sporadically in the prefectures of Chania. The Vilana variety is cultivated in suitable soil with a low yield per vine and controlled fermentation. It yields aromatic wines of average to high alcoholic strength, goldengreen colour with a pleasant fresh well-balanced palate with a long finish.
