Description
Damiana (Turnera diffusa, Turnera aphrodisiaca) is a wild shrub native to Texas, Mexico, South and Central American, and the Caribbean. The dried leaves are used medicinally and are believed to have an aphrodisiac effect for both men and women.
In alternative medicine, damiana is also used for asthma, anxiety, depression, headache, and menstrual disorders.
Damiana is also used to treat bedwetting, depression, nervous stomach, and constipation; for prevention and treatment of sexual problems; boosting and maintaining mental and physical stamina; and as an aphrodisiac. Some people inhale damiana for a slight “high”.
