Our journey began in 2009

Founded in 2009, Maravel Garden is a vibrant growing space that extends to over 20 acres. Here you can find over 300 common and unusual herbs, spices, aromatic and medicinal herbs and herbs used for culinary purposes. You can also find a variety of plants, flowering trees, annual and perennial flowers, our rose garden, as well as a greenhouse with tropical plants.

The Garden is also home to a variety of vegetables, perennial fruit trees and bushes, and an abundance of flowers for pollinators and humans alike. We ourselves support all aspects of growing, including turning the ground, planting seeds, weeding and harvesting fresh produce.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to the collection, cultivation, preservation and display of a wide range of plants labeled with their botanical names, and we only practice organic methods without the use of synthetic herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers, or bioengineered genes.

From Our Soil to Your Home

For the production of our own range of cosmetics we utilize fine herbs and rare plants from the Cretan nature, exclusively grown in our Garden. Throughout the years, and driven by the need to promote self-care, we have developed exclusively in-house a wide range of products for the face, the body and the hair, all based on a variety of our own herbal extracts, essential oils, organic plant oils and natural butters. Our specialized formulas are optimized and updated with clinically-proven, active ingredients that offer targeted results.

Our production still preserves authentic homemade techniques and our handcrafted range is produced with traditional handmade techniques, without the use of heavy machinery.

All our products for the face, hair and body are based on the principals of ancient Greek herbal therapy and aromatherapy. Each one of our unique recipes is developed with carefully selected ingredients to cover the daily beauty routine, including specialized concerns like anti-aging, dryness, oiliness, sensitivities, special needs, hair loss, etc.

Maravel Garden Cosmetics use all these natural endemic plants, herbs and ingredients in its authentic homemade products, all made with inherited natural techniques.

Behind each product there is a story from the ancient times and an intensive study, which represent the philosophy of our entire company. There are two pillars of Inspiration behind the unique concept of Maravel Garden Cosmetics: a) The history of Herbal Therapy & Aromatherapy and b) The excellent quality of ingredients.

Our Inspiration

The history of Herbal Therapy & Aromatherapy leads us to Ancient Greece, where healing and relaxation techniques were widely spread. Famous ancient Greek practitioners, philosophers and physicians recorded the beneficial effects of hundreds of scented plants and herbs.

Before the arrival of ready-made cosmetics, women in Greece, both in Ancient and Classical eras, formulated a wide range of recipes deriving from the rich Greek nature, to treat several skin and hair conditions.

Many seeds, herbs, flower buds, vegetables and fruits indigenous to Greece found their way into beautification and treatment mixtures. Lavender, roses, sage, garlic, rosemary and chamomile are just a few examples of ingredients that were used for the preparation of handcrafted cosmetics. Scents were produced by boiling flowers, herbs and spices and mixed with a base of olive oil. Greeks were also known to create beauty products from natural pigments, plant roots, seeds, petals, wine and other homegrown ingredients.

The history of Herbal Therapy & Aromatherapy

The excellent quality of Greek herbs and spices reflects the country’s long periods of sunshine and the complexity of its landscapes, allowing the growth of hundreds of different species of plants, out of which most grow exclusively in Greece and a lot of them only in Crete. Their use for skincare dates all the way back to 5000 BC and all are still principal ingredients in contemporary Greek beauty products, for their precious moisturizing, nourishing and antioxidant properties.
